Our Mission is to provide support and advocacy for property owners' rights, standard-operating procedures, and community representation to vacation rental operators & affiliates in the Mt. Washington Valley region.

Leadership

David Cavanaugh, Interim President

David is originally from Buffalo, NY and has been in the Boston area for 10 years. He first came to North Conway in 2011 to ski and fell in love with the town. The town reminded him of his hometown hill in Ellicottville NY, where he also married his wife Jen, slopeside at Holiday Valley. A goal as an adult was to own a “ski house” and he had narrowed the search to the MWV region and in 2019 that goal was achieved. Since then, he has introduced his son to skiing and he can be found zooming down the slopes at Cranmore or Attitash. David is a successful Biostatistician working with pharmaceutical companies in oncology drug development.

Renee De Pina, Secretary

Back in 2019, Renee began her search for a place to call her home away from home. She grew up vacationing every year with her family in New Hampshire and she wanted to continue the tradition. In 2020, Renee found a beautiful home in Madison. When she is not enjoying her Madison home, she is a Marketing Consultant focusing on the non-profit sector.

Peter Rondeau, Board Member

Peter Rondeau is a New Hampshire native and a dedicated advocate for protecting property rights, including short-term rentals. He views these rentals as a vital part of today’s housing landscape—providing flexible options for vacations, displaced families, visiting relatives, work assignments, and more. He also champions diverse housing types and is actively working to preserve his cottage style community from destruction.

Steve Farrell, Board Member

Steve is a retired, certified construction management executive with over 40 years of experience in international construction, engineering, and real estate development, specializing in project planning, risk assessment, contracts, and dispute resolution through his firm, Farrell Consulting Group, Inc., founded in 1997. He has served as an expert in complex disputes involving cost overruns, delays, and design issues across major infrastructure and public projects. After developing a deep connection to the White Mountains beginning in 1978, Steve and his family built a vacation cabin between 2003 and 2006, intending to preserve it through legacy planning and short-term rentals; however, this plan was disrupted in 2022 when new local ordinances banned such rentals for smaller properties. In response, Steve became an active advocate for property owners, focusing on education and challenging regulatory overreach that may infringe on constitutional property rights, drawing on both his professional expertise and his role as a board member of MWVARR to promote awareness and protection of long-term property interests.

Ed Harvey, Board Member

Ed is originally from NY, but has spent the last 24 years in New England. After five years in Boston, Ed moved to the NH Seacoast where he has lived in Durham since 2006.  After spending years cramming into hotels with his wife and two kids every weekend to ski Wildcat, Ed and his family purchased land and built a cabin in Jackson. This was around the same time that Ed joined the Black Mountain ski patrol where he patrolled for 10 years. Ed is currently the Director of Advancement Finances for the University of New Hampshire Foundation and is pursuing a Master’s in Public Administration from UNH. Prior to UNHF, Ed worked for the University System of New Hampshire for 10 years. Traditionally busy with an annual yearend audit every summer, Ed has rented his cabin June through October since 2018. He also has a CAGS in Higher Ed Finance & Administration from Plymouth State University, an MLA in Nonprofit Management in Urban Affairs from Boston University where he worked during his time in Boston, and a BS in Accounting from Syracuse University.

Paul Mayer, Advisory Committee

Paul is retired from 25 years in local real estate. In the past he owned Black Bear Realty and served as President of the White Mountain Board of Realtors. He has been involved in the STR debate and protecting Personal Property Rights for years. Paul's educational background is in Hospitality Management & Business Law.
